The 2016 International Seminar on Aviation Safety Information with the theme of “Information sharing and safety promotion” was held in CAUC from October 17th to 18th. As the first international seminar on civil aviation safety information held in China, the seminar attracted 11 experts from International Confidential Aviation Safety reporting System (ICASS) and more than 80 aviation safety experts from CAAC, ATMB, Chinese airports, airlines and other related organizations.

Mr. Wu Chengchang, Chief Director of Safety of CAAC gave a speech on the opening ceremony of the seminar. He said that with the rapid development of China civil aviation, China has become the second largest civil aviation market in the world. At the same time, China’s civil aviation safety record is also improving, which attributes a lot to its efficient safety management system. He pointed out that the airports, airlines and other civil aviation organizations should encourage their employees to actively report safety loopholes in order to realize the free flow and sharing of safety information. Meanwhile, the civil aviation companies should improve the efficiency of information collection and analysis and comprehensively enhance the safety level of China civil aviation.

Mr. Dong Jiankang, President of CAUC also delivered a speech on the opening ceremony. He briefly introduced the Sino Confidential Aviation Safety reporting System (SCASS) which has been established and presided over by the Civil Aviation Safety Research Institute of CAUC for 12 years. The SCASS involves many aspects of civil aviation transportation and employs various kinds of information response methods to promote the publicity of information response and voluntary reporting system.

The seminar included conference reports and panel discussions. Reports were made by 16 representatives from ICASS, CAAC, China Academy of Civil Aviation Science and Technology, Air China, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Hainan Airlines, Xiamen Airlines, Spring Airlines, ATMB, South China Regional Office of ATMB, Beijing Capital International Airport, Changsha Airport and CAUC. The reports talked about the current development of civil aviation safety information in China and aboard from macro and micro perspectives and discussed the developmental trends of international civil aviation safety information.
